Visually appealing and geared toward western material culture, the various symbols and items are usually a person’s first introduction to the occult. From the witch’s cauldron to the magician’s wand to the more obscure alchemist’s alembic, accessories of the occult stick in the mind and relate back to the practice. What can the magician do with his wand? People go to magic shows to find out. What is more iconic in the world of black magic than the pentagram? Early esotericism was mainly interested in “ancient knowledge” from Egypt and parts of the middle east. It is not uncommon to find references to lost works or needing to connect the dots between what evidence has survived the centuries. Often academics have to make educated guesses based on what they have available. This is why the study of manuscripts can be so important and rewarding. Libraries, museums, and even private collections are being catalogued and their contents digitized. This allows for unprecedented access and opportunity to study texts that would have been inaccessible to most scholars and especially to the general public.

But I digress. Modern published copies of most of these authors will satisfy the basic reading requirements for understanding occult philosophy. Plato, Aristotle, Neoplatonism, Gnosticism, and to a lesser extent Pythagoras and Neo-Pythagorean schools are the formal philosophies that underpin nearly all later western occultism.

Two other categories constitute, in my opinion, the rest of occult thought and structure: theology and folk tradition. The three are most often woven together into a tapestry of formal and informal philosophy and metaphysics.

Kabbalah, for example, is based almost entirely in Jewish, and later Christian, theology. Historical witchcraft was more likely in actual practice a collection of folk traditions practiced by wise men and women in rural communities. The narrative that people attended midnight sabbaths and sold their souls to the devil was a hysterical Christian invention. Contemporary Wiccan movements base their beliefs on neopagan models that draw from historical sources as well as developing their own. Each has an underlying philosophy or reasoning but the former is relegated to the realm of God and the latter two are more informal and practical than directly influenced by a formal philosophical system. The topics of Ritual Magic and Sympathetic magic likewise have philosophy that can be derived from them but the practical application and historical development were likely far removed from any formal or academic process.

Ritual Magic, and its subcategory Theurgy or “spirit work”, is a common occult element that appears in almost all practices. It dates back to the earliest forms of human religion and persists in countless forms both esoteric and mainstream. It could be argued that the Christian sacraments, especially the Eucharist, is a prime example of ritual magic that transforms bread and wine into flesh and blood. Since the basis of ritual magic requires only that a ritual be performed with the intention of producing a result (be it physical, mental, or spiritual) it applies to a host of religious practices. Occult ritual magic tends to be more open about its desire for results but the basics are the same.

Sympathetic Magic is more often seen in folk and occult practices than in mainstream religion. In fact, the Abrahamic faiths pointedly condemn it in the worship of false idols. Sympathetic magic is divided into two categories: similarity and contact. A voodoo doll uses both and so is a most useful example. The doll is designed to look like the intended target (similarity). Attached to it is a lock of hair or other personal item from the subject (something that has made contact with them). Through both its similarity and contact, the doll is thus connected with the target. Anything done to the doll will then be transferred to the subject of the doll through the laws of sympathetic magic. Similarly, in the example of idols, creating an image of a god allowed the god to inhabit that image. Worshipping the image equated directly with worshipping the god. Sympathetic and ritual magic can overlap with formal ceremonies using sympathetic techniques.

Whether you’re interested in studying a specific system or school of thought, the important thing to remember is that nothing in occult practices or philosophy is done arbitrarily. It is either based in previous tradition, work, and thought or developed through practical application with an underlying theory. The unique thing about the occult is that it often combines these two methods, as opposed to theology (which works from the standpoint of an established religion) and to the sciences (which is based in facts derived from reproduced experimentation). Alchemy is a prime example of this final philosophy.

Alchemy has two components which are inseparable in the mind of the alchemist: the material and the spiritual. The basis of Hermetic philosophy, which is purportedly based in ancient divine knowledge, connects the two in a way that one reflects the other. The physical process of turning lead into gold can be understood allegorically to be the refining of the soul into a higher, enlightened state. Much of hermetic philosophy involves secrets and initiation. One must be worthy before learning the secrets of the universe and human soul’s place within it. Often intentionally vague and infinitely interpretable, hermetic writings carry the hallmark secretive nature of the occult.

Bibliography and Suggested Reading:

Copenhaver, Brian P. Hermetica. How are you going to work with all these cells? This is actual an easy process. Let's talk about how you can begin to have a direct experience of connecting to your cells and beginning your healing process.

Step 1

Open up your consciousness and acknowledge the existence of all the cells in your body. As you do so, your energy automatically begins to flow to all the cells. You do not have to struggle with this; just let go and allow your energy to naturally flow to each cell. Remember: The universal law is that when you bring your attention/consciousness to something, energy automatically goes to where you place your attention. So, as you bring your consciousness to the cells they begin to feel the conscious connection from you, they begin to open and respond, they begin to change! You begin to change!

Step2

While you are consciously connecting in this way to the cells you need to simply take a breath, in through the mouth, and then out through the mouth, letting the outward breath go without controlling it. Simply let it go. When you do this, the breath will automatically go to every cell in this physical body of yours. The Pleiadians call it the "Sweeping Breath" because it automatically sweeps through every cell of your body, and in that moment every cell begins to respond to this conscious connection by you. It is the same as the Conscious Breath.

Remember that this Conscious Breath says two things: "Yes, I'm willing to let go ofwhat is holding in my cells," and "Yes, I'm willing to receive my light and my healing through my cells."

So, what is actually happening from this sweeping, Conscious Breath is a letting go in all of the cells in your body. The cells begin letting go of the stress, struggle, and tiredness that has built up in the cells over this lifetime and other lifetimes. As this dense energy leaves the cells it makes it possible for a new level of your light to come into the cells. The cell's membrane is able to transform its energy opening up the cell to receive healing light. This activates the energy of the selfhealer and the cells begin to regenerate.

Each cell has a central heart, so, as you open to the cell, the heartbeat or pulse begins to awaken. It's like feeding the smallest flicker of a light, and that light expands into a flame. Your cell needs to be that flame in order for healing to take place. Your cells need love, and the light of the Self brings that love to every cell, awakening each one and activating the individual consciousness of each one. A new life force enters the cell. As the cells begin to flourish, the outer membranes of the cells transform. They become more radiant, and there will be a soft purple light found in the membrane itself, which you may even sense or see.

The cell receives nutrition through this outer membrane, and as the membrane transforms it is able to take in greater nutrition. The space between the cells will expand, allowing each cell to hold a more individual aspect of the Self. The spaces between the cells hold the connection to the other dimensional aspects of you, the healing aspects of Self. So as the spaces open up, the self-healing principle is naturally activated within you.

Sometimes you will experience physical pain as the dense areas open up and leave the body. To accelerate the dense areas leaving, simply bring your attention to where the pain is in the physical body and use the. Conscious Breath. Remember that it is useful to give the area where you feel the pain, a color and/or a form. Then bring your consciousness to the form or to the color, and breathe directly into it. The pain may become more intense in that moment, which is the issue leaving the body.

This journey with the cells is about you being willing to receive yourself in a whole different way-being willing to open to this aspect of your body. It is powerful, empowering, and very beautiful. It is an incredible event to witness, this physical birthing of your Self; you taking back your power to self-heal.

Christine Day, Pleiadian Initiations of Light

Artist: Tautvydas Davainis
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2293852059418264269.post-36220058963861705952021-07-25T22:03:00.003-07:002021-07-25T22:03:59.609-07:00New Earth is NOW. Or if he goes from a cold into a warmer climate the symptoms of Lachesis will come out. The warm south winds excite the Lachesis symptoms.

The symptoms of Lachesis are worse on entering sleep. He may have felt nothing of his symptoms when awake, but when sleep comes on they are aroused, and they gradually increase as the sleep is prolonged, so that a very long sleep will aggravate all the state and condition of a Lachesis patient, and when awakening from sleep he looks back upon that sleep with sorrow.

The sleep has been disturbed by attacks of suffocation and by awful dreams, and now, after having slept a long time, he arouses with dreadful headaches, with palpitation, with melancholy, with sorrows from head to foot. His body is full of suffering and his mind sees no brightness in anything. There is a cloudy state, sadness, melancholy, insane notions, whims, jealousy and suspicion.

When taking a warm bath, or applying warm water to places that are inflamed, his mental symptoms are aggravated. After a warm bath or after getting warmed up, or, if he becomes chilled from being out on a cold day and then goes into a warm room the symptoms come on. After going into a warm bath, palpitation comes on; it seems as if his head would burst, his feet become cold, and he is shocked all over, pulsation all over, or feeble heart. Fainting in a warm bath. Girls sometimes faint when going into a warm bath. The patient may be cold and chilly yet the warm room increases or brings out the symptoms.

The general aspect of the patient and the localities will point sometimes to Lachesis. Upon the face there is an appearance of anxiety, of unrest and distress. The face is spotted or purple and the eyes are engorged.

The eyes look suspicious. If there is an inflamed spot, it is purple. If there is an inflamed gland, and Lachesis is full of inflammation of the glands and cellular tissues, there is a purple or mottled appearance. If there is an ulceration the ulceration bleeds black blood, which soon coagulates and looks like charred straw. From the wounds there is much bleeding.

Small wounds bleed much like Phosphorus and Kreosote. A prick of a pin will ooze great drops of blood. Ulcers eat in, have false granulations, are putrid, bleed easily, and the blood is black, and all round the ulceration there is a purple, mottled appearance, looking as if about to become gangrenous. Often gangrene does come; gangrene of parts that have been injured. Sloughing with great offensiveness. The parts turn black and slough. The veins become varicose. These are found upon the limbs, having the appearance of the varicose veins that come after gestation. Enlargement of the veins is a prominent condition of Lachesis.

From the slightest exertion of the mind or from the slightest emotion the extremities become cold, the heart becomes very feeble, the skin is covered with sweat and the head is hot. Warmth does not seem to relieve the coldness of the feet and hands; they are so cold. They may be wrapped up in flannels and still they remain cold, but the patient has an aversion to heat; aversion to a warm room, because suffocation is brought on. He cannot breathe and wants the windows open. It is weakness of the heart; sometimes so weak that it can hardly be heard or felt, and the pulse is feeble and intermittent. At other times there is audible palpitation of the heart.

As we go over the symptoms of the text we will notice something singular about the complaints, that is, their tendency to affect the left side, or to begin on the left and extend to the right. The paralysis begins by gradually appearing weakness upon the left side. Which extends to the right side. It has a strong affinity for the ovaries, and in-this it will be found that the left ovary is affected first.

So, in inflammation of the ovaries, the left will be affected first, and later the right. The inflammation begins on the left side of the throat and gradually goes to the right. The left side of the head is commonly most affected. The left eye becomes painful and the pain extends to the right. The left side of the back of the head, in the occipital headache, will be more affected than the right. This does not always follow, and if the reverse is true it does not contra-indicate Lach., but such is the common feature of it. Left upper and right lower, has been observed.

In many symptoms of Lachesis, there is morning aggravation. This is the well-known Lachesis aggravation after sleep; the patient will sleep into the aggravation. In the milder symptoms this aggravation is mild and is not felt until after the patient wakes up from a long sleep, but if the aggravation is one that is of considerable violence, the patient may feel it immediately on going to sleep, and it arouses him; for instance, the heart symptoms. As soon as he goes into a sleep he rouses up with palpitation, with dyspnoea, with suffocation, with exhaustion, with vertigo, with pain in the back of the head, and many other circulatory disturbances.

The next most important thing to be studied is the mental state. Nothing stands out more boldly than the self-consciousness, the self-conceit, the envy, the hatred, the revenge and the cruelty of the man. These things, of course, are matters of self-consciousness, an improper love of self. Confusion of the mind to insanity. All sorts of impulsive insanity. The mind is tired. The patient puts on an appearance like the maudling of a drunkard, talks with thick lips and thick tongue, blunders and stumbles, only partly finishing words; the face is purple and the head is hot.

There is choking and the collar is uneasy about the neck; and the more uneasiness about the neck, the more choking, the more confusion of mind and the more appearance of intoxication. You will see if you talk with one who is intoxicated with whiskey symptoms like Lachesis, he stumbles through, hardly realizing what he says, half finishing his sentences and his words, leaving his "g's" off all the present participles; he stumbles and blunders, he mutters, and tells you first one thing and then another. These symptoms are increased under the circumstances mentioned, in the Spring; in the warm weather following a cold spell; in rainy weather; after a warm bath; after sleep.

The mental state is large. Jealousy without any reason. Unwarranted jealousy and suspicion. Many times this medicine has cured suspicion in girls, when they were simply suspicious of their girlfriends. She never sees a whispered conversation going on but they are talking about her, to her detriment. Suspects that they are contriving to injure her, and she will resort to any scheme to see if they were not talking of her to her detriment. A woman imagines that her friends, husband, and children are trying to damage her; that her friends are going to put her in an insane asylum.

Apprehension of the future. Thinks she is going to have heart disease, and is going insane, and that people are contriving to put her in an insane asylum. Imagines her relatives are trying to poison her and she refuses to eat. She thinks sometimes that it is only a dream and she can hardly say whether she dreamed it or whether she thinks it. She thinks she is dead, or dreams that she is dead, and in the dream preparations are being made to lay her out, or that she is about to die.

Thinks she is somebody else, and in the hands of a stronger power. She thinks she is under superhuman control. She is compelled to do things by spirits. She hears a command, partly in her dream, that she must carry out. Sometimes it takes the form of voices in which she is commanded to steal, to murder, or to confess things she never did, and she has no peace of mind until she makes a confession of something she has never done. The torture is something violent until she confesses that which she has not done. Imagines she is pursued. Imagines that she has stolen something, or that somebody thinks she has stolen something, and fears the law. She hears voices and warnings, and in the night she dreams about it. The state of torture is something dreadful, and it then goes into a delirium with muttering. The delirium is carried on like one muttering when drunk. This state increases until unconsciousness comes on and the patient enters into a coma from which he cannot be aroused. The patient also goes through periods of violence and violent delirium.

It is full of religious insanity. You will find a dear, sweet old lady, who has always lived what would be called an upright and pious life, yet she is not able to apply the promises that are in the Word of God to herself; these things seem to apply to somebody else, but not to her. She is full of wickedness and has committed the unpardonable sin. She is compelled to say these things; she is overwhelmed by these things and she is going to die and going to that awful hell that she reads about. The physician must listen to this with attention. The physician might make the mistake in this instance of making light of such feelings. If he does, the patient will not return, and he will be deprived of the chance of benefitting her. No matter what her whims are, no matter what her religious opinions are, her state of mind must be treated with respect. It must be treated as if it were so.

She must have sympathy and kindness. It is an unfortunate thing for a doctor to get a reputation of being an ungodly man, among pious people, as he will be deprived of doing these people an immense amount of good. He must be candid with all the whims and notions of the people that he visits in the world. He must be everybody's friend, and he can be such without any hypocrisy if he is simply an upright and just man.

The state of religious melancholy, with religious insanity, is not uncommonly attended with much loquacity, with talkativeness, which Lachesis is full of. It is commonly among women, very seldom among men, that we find this religious melancholy. Now, this woman is impelled to tell it; she will annoy her intimate friends, day and night, with this story of the damnation of her soul and her wickedness and all the awful things she has done. If you ask her what things she has committed she will say everything, but you cannot pin her down to the fact that she has killed anybody. If you allow her to go through with her story she will tell you all the crimes in the calendar that she has committed, although she has been a well-behaved and well-disposed woman. There is another kind of loquacity belonging to Lachesis.

The patient is impelled to talk continuously. It is found in another state in which the patient is compelled to hurry in everything she does, and wants everybody else to hurry. With that state of hurry is brought out the loquacity, and this is something far beyond comprehension until you have once heard it. There is no use attempting to describe it, it is so rapid, changing from one subject to another. Sentences are sometimes only half finished; she takes it for granted that you understand the balance and she will hurry on. Day and night she is wide awake, and with such sensitiveness to her surroundings that you would naturally think, from what things she hears and how she is disturbed by noise, that she can hear the flies walk upon the walls and the clock striking upon the distant steeple. You do not get all these things in the text, you have to see them applied.

But the things I give you that are brought out clinically are those things that have come from applying the symptoms of the remedy at the bedside to sick folks. "Most extraordinary loquacity, making speeches in very select phrases, but jumping off to most heterogeneous subjects." "One word often leads into the midst of another story." These states may come on in acute diseases like typhoid, when it _will take the usual typhoid delirium, or they may come on in conditions like diphtheria, or in any of the diseases that are characterized by blood poisoning; they may come on in the puerperal state, or may take the form of insanity. It is a long acting remedy, and if it has been abused its effects will last a life time.

In many cases a close connection between the mental symptoms and the heart symptoms will be noticed, especially in young women and girls who have met with disappointment, who have been lying awake nights because of disturbance of the affections, or from disappointment, or from shattered hopes, or from grief. Prolonged melancholy, mental depression, hysterical symptoms, weeping, mental prostration and despair, with pain in the heart, with a gone sensation or sensation of weakness in the heart, with difficult breathing. She meditates upon suicide, and finally settles back into an apathetic state, in which there is an aversion to everything, to work, and even to thinking.

I might impress upon your mind the head symptoms if I related the case of a patient who described her symptoms probably more typically than you can find in the books. She was sitting up in bed and unable to lie down; she was worse from lying down, her face was purple, her eyes were engorged, the face puffed and tumid and the eyelids bloated. She sat there perfectly quiet in bed and described the pain as a surging sensation, which came up the back of the neck and head and then over the head. That is a typical feature of Lachesis.

A surging in waves. Waves of pain that are not always synchronous with the pulse. They may not relate to the flow of blood at all. The surging is aggravated by motion, not so much in the act of motion, but after moving. It is sometimes felt after walking or changing to another place, and sitting down again; that is, a few seconds after the motion is completed the pain begins, and it comes to its height instantly and then gradually subsides into a very steady surging or a more steady ache. In the head there is a continuous steady ache, which may be aggravated or aroused into a surging which is so violent that it seems as if it would take the life of the patient.

The headache begins in the morning on waking. The milder Lachesis headaches begin in the morning on awaking and wear off after moving about a while. With the headaches and complaints in general there is a momentary vanishing of thought; all sorts of vertigo. Vertigo with nausea and vomiting. The vertigo inclines the patient to turn to the left.

Lachesis has bursting pains in the head; congestive pains with a feeling as if all the blood in the body must be in the head, because the extremities are so cold and the head pulsates and hammers. This pulsating headache is part of a general pulsation from head to foot. In all arteries and inflamed parts, there is pulsation. The inflamed ovary pulsates, and it feels at times as if a little hammer were hammering upon the inflamed part with every pulsation of the artery.

Lachesis has a number of times cured fistula in ano when associated with this feeling as if a hammer continually hammered the little fistulous pipe. It has cured fissure of long standing when it felt as if the inflamed part were being hammered. Haemorrhoids have been cured when this sensation of hammering was present. So that we see this pulsation in the head is not a special symptom, but is a general symptom, brought out in relation to the head.

Some symptoms are valuable because of the frequency of their association, and when such is the case their concomitant relation becomes important. The cardiac symptoms are frequently connected with the headache symptoms in Lachesis. It is seldom that you will see Lachesis headaches without cardiac difficulty. A weak pulse, or the pulsation felt all over the body, is more or less associated with violent Lachesis headaches.

In the text we find weight and pressure as a strong feature of the Lachesis head symptoms. With almost any complaint of the body, with typhoids, at the menstrual period, during the congestive chill, it seems that the body becomes cold, the extremities become cold, the knees are cold, the feet are cold, and it is impossible to keep them warm, while the face is purple and mottled, the eyes are protruding and engorged, and this awful pain in the head, with a tendency to become unconscious, incoherent speech, difficulty of articulation, and finally actual unconsciousness.

In relation to the head symptoms and mind symptoms and the sensorium in general, the oversensitiveness that is found in Lachesis ought to be mentioned. His symptoms become very intense. The vision becomes very intense; the hearing becomes intense; the sense of touch especially is overwrought. The touch of the clothing becomes very painful, while hard pressure may be agreeable. The scalp becomes so sensitive to the touch of the hand that it is painful, while the pressure from a bandage is agreeable. Oversensitive to noise, oversensitive to motion in the room, to conversation and to others walking over the floor. By these circumstances the pains are increased. The patient becomes extremely sensitive throughout all the senses of the body.

The oversensitiveness to touch is probably extensively in the skin, because of the fact that hard pressure often gives relief. In one who is suffering from peritonitis, from inflammation of the ovaries or uterus, or any of the abdominal viscera, the skin is so sensitive to the clothing that contrivances are sometimes necessary to relieve the suffering from the touch of the bed clothing.

Something in the form of a hoop will be found in the bed, or the patient will have the knees drawn up, or with the hands will hold the clothing from touching the body. The ordinary weight of the hand may bring out the soreness that is in the abdomen, which is an entirely different soreness, whereas the clothing touching the abdomen only brings out the oversensitiveness of the skin. The mere touch of the skin with the finger or hand is unbearable.

There are many inflammatory and congestive conditions of the eyes. The eye symptoms are worse after sleep, and the eyes are oversensitive to touch and light. With the eye symptoms we have headaches, because the brain and eyes are so closely associated. In the sore throats, when the spatula or tongue depressor happens to touch the wall of the throat, the tonsil, or the root of the tongue, there is a feeling as if the eyes would be pressed out. Violent pain in the eyes from touching the throat. Lachesis is a great jaundice medicine, because it produces much disturbance in the liver. Yellowness of the skin and whites of the eyes, and thickening of tissues about the eyes. "Fistula lachrymalis," which is accompanied by long standing eruptions about the face.

Oversensitiveness of the meatus auditorus externus. Anything introduced into the canal of the ear will cause violent, spasmodic coughing and tickling in the throat. So sensitive is the mucous membrane of the ear that a violent cough, like whooping cough, will come on from touching the mucous membrane of the ear. This only shows the oversensitiveness of reflexes, and the oversensitiveness in general. With the hearing there is the same oversensitiveness that we have spoken of elsewhere. The Eustachian tube becomes closed with a catarrhal thickening, stricture of the Eustachian tube.

The catarrhal symptoms of the nose are prominent. Frequent bleeding of the nose and body, watery discharge from the nose. Always taking cold in the nose. Stuffing up of the nose, with disturbance of smell. Oversensitiveness to smell, and oversensitiveness to odors, finally loss of smell. Lachesis has inflammatory conditions, very chronic in character, with crusty formations in the nose, sneezing, watery discharges from the nose and catarrhal headaches. Sometimes the headache goes off when the catarrhal discharge comes, and when the catarrhal discharge stops the headache comes on. Violent headache with discharge, with sneezing and coryza.

Congestive headaches with coryza. This catarrhal condition has led to the use of Lachesis in syphilis. It is sufficiently similar to cope with the severe forms of nasal syphilis; syphilis where it has affected the nasal mucous membrane, producing- crusts and finally affecting the bones. Foetid ozaena; very offensive discharges from the nose. Bleeding from the nose need not surprise you, because Lachesis is a haemmorrhagic remedy.

The blood from the nose or any part, when it dries or clots, looks like charred straw or becomes black. Parts bleed easily. Copious and prolonged uterine haemorrhage, copious and prolonged menstruation, bleeding from the nose, vomiting of blood, haemorrhage from the bowels in typhoids. "Great sensitiveness of the nostrils and lips, swelling of the lips, great swelling and tumefaction of the nose in old cases of syphilis. The nose swells up and becomes purple. The nasal bones are very sore, soreness upon sides of the nose. Lachesis is an especially useful medicine in old drunkards who have red nose, and in heart affections with red nose. A red knob on the end of the nose, a strawberry nose.

The face is purple and mottled, the eyelids are tumid, very much puffed; not bloated as in oedematous subjects, but puffed. There is not the pitting upon pressure that we find in oedema, although Lachesis has that, but there is a puffiness peculiar to Lachesis, the face looks swollen and inflamed, due to a venous stasis, so that the face is purple and mottled. The nose is tumid, yet it will not remain pitted upon pressure. The lips feel as if inflamed, yet are not inflamed, simply sensitive to pressure.

The face has also an oedematous appearance in which there is pitting upon pressure, in cardiac affections, in cases of Bright's disease. On the other hand the face becomes very pale, pale and cold; the skin covered with scaly eruptions. Eruptions that bleed easily, with crusty eruptions, with vesicular eruptions. Eruptions that fill with blood, bloody vesicles and large blood blisters, such as occur sometimes in burns, with burning. The face becomes jaundiced and very sallow. At times it takes on the appearance also of a chlorosis. If you have once seen the chlorotic color, it need not be described. It is a condition of anaemia, with yellowish pallor, ash colored or grey, intermingled with a sort of greenish color, so that the ancients often referred to it as green sickness. Again the face becomes livid and puffed like the bloated aspect of drunkards, the mottled purple appearance of drunkards who have been drinking for years, until they are bloated and broken down and have a besotted aspect. You see that in Lachesis.

In Lachesis we have a remedy for erysipelas and gangrenous affections, and about the affected part there is the Lachesis appearance, that is the mottled, purplish appearance. Lachesis has become clinically a marked remedy for erysipelas and for gangrene. As provers do not follow up remedies until they produce these things, we have to gather them from the poisonous effects and clinical observation.

In Lachesis there is oozing of blood around the teeth, the gums bleed easily. Dry crusts appear upon the teeth in zymotic diseases, often black formations, sordes, and the tongue takes part in the appearance of the mouth and becomes slick. This occurs in typhoid conditions when there is a total loss of assimilation, the appetite is entirely gone, the stomach will not take food, and when food is put into the stomach it is rejected. There is also paresis of the tongue. The tongue seems to be like leather in the mouth, it is moved with great difficulty. And the speech is like that of one half intoxicated; he is unable to articulate. The tongue swells and is protruded very slowly.

It is dry and catches on the teeth and seems to have lost its stiffness. Seems like a rag, or as if the muscles did not act upon it so that it cannot be protruded, or if it is protruded it trembles and quivers and jerks and catches on the teeth. Again it is swollen, it is denuded of its papillae, and smooth, shiny and glassy as if varnished. In the mouth there is a soapy appearance of the saliva. The saliva runs into the mouth copiously and the patient will often lie with the head over the side of the bed, and the saliva dripping into a pan or commode.

The saliva is stringy and can be pulled out of the mouth in strings; white mucus or saliva. This is not an uncommon feature in diphtheria, in sore throat, in inflammation of the tongue and mouth and gums, and in inflammation of the salivary glands. When this mucus is thick, tough, yellow, stringy and ropy it is like Kali bichromicum.

You will often find in severe sore throat that the patient will lie and gag, and cough, and attempt with difficulty to protrude the tongue to expel the saliva from the mouth. Very often the pain is so severe in the root of the tongue that he cannot expel the saliva by the tongue and he will lie with the open mouth over a commode, or with a cloth over the pillow, to receive the thick, ropy saliva. In such a state with sore throats, especially those that commence on the left side and go to the right, you hardly need to question longer, for it is the aspect of Lachesis. This state of affairs would lead to Lachesis in ordinary inflammatory conditions of the tongue and in cancerous affections of the tongue. Lach. has in its nature the tendency to formation of malignant scabs and malignant ulcers, such as we find in epithelioma. It has cured a number of cases of epithelioma. It has been a. very useful remedy in lupus. It is an important remedy in syphilitic sore throat, in syphilitic ulceration of the throat, tongue and roof of the mouth with this copious, stringy saliva.

The muscles of the pharynx become paralyzed and will not act, and hence the food will collect in the pharynx, that is, the bolus to be swallowed goes to the pharynx and stops, and then a tremendous effort at swallowing, with gagging and coughing and spasmodic action of the chest, takes place in order to carry on respiration, and he will not again attempt it. This state often occurs with diphtheria. I have a number of times seen it brought about by *the physician, who has, instead of giving just enough Lachesis, high enough and similar enough to the disease to cure, given it as low as he could get it, the 8th or 10th, dissolved it in water and fed it all through the diphtheritic state.

When you come across cases that have been treated in this way you need not be surprised if a post-diphtheritic paralysis comes on, because Lachesis will produce it. It may cure the diphtheria, but it will leave its poisonous effects which will last that patient a lifetime. Every spring the symptoms of Lachesis will crop out. In all the circumstances of aggravation described the symptoms of Lachesis will crop out if he has once been poisoned by it.

In the sore throat we have a combination of symptoms. Lachesis has produced this state; going from left to right; but with the sore throat there is a sensation of fullness in the neck and throat, difficult breathing, pallor or plethoric appearance of the face, choking when going into sleep, the peculiar kind of saliva and aggravation of the throat symptoms from warm drinks. There is not always an aggravation of the pain itself from warm drinks, but the patient is often unable to swallow warm fluids.

The swallowing of warm fluids often causes choking, and after a swallow of warm tea is taken the patient will clutch at the throat and it seems as if he would suffocate. He says, "Oh! Do not give me any more warm drinks." Something cold will relieve. The dyspnoea and the distress about the throat is increased by swallowing something warm. Now, in the sore throats of Lycopodium, warmth often benefits, but it is also true in some cases of Lycopodium sore throat, they want cold drinks and cold feels good to the throat.

Very often in the more acute symptoms of Lachesis a warm drink in the stomach is hurtful and causes nausea and suffocation and increases the choking and palpitation and the fullness in the head, whereas in the chronic cases of Lachesis, those that have been poisoned years before, there will be a sensation of nausea and tendency to vomit from taking a drink of cold water and then lying down. The nausea comes on after lying down, that is, let the patient take a drink of ice cold water and go to bed and nausea will come on. Such a state is peculiar to Lachesis. It has been a later observation of those who have long before proved Lachesis. The symptoms of Lachesis have sometimes to be taken years after.

Lachesis has ulcers in the throat. It has aphthous patches, it has red and grey ulceration, it has deep ulceration. The tendency to ulceration upon the margins of mucous membranes is peculiar to Lachesis. Also ulceration upon the skin, where the circulation is feeble. It seems that the pain in the throat is particularly marked between the acts of swallowing, and the pressure of the bolus going over the inflamed tonsils relieves the pain. Always choking when swallowing, choking and gagging in the throat. The cough is a choking cough and produces a sensation of tickling.

This is like the Bell. cough. Bell. antidotes a Lach. cough, it has a cough so much like Lach. that no one can tell them apart. Again the throat takes on extreme dryness in Lach., and this dryness is without thirst, dryness with aversion to water. Much inclination to swallow; the tendency is to continuously swallow, yet it is painful. Empty swallowing is more painful than the swallowing of solids. Some Lach. patients suffering from cardiac affections are annoyed with constriction of the throat, choking in the throat when anything warm is swallowed, and sometimes when going into a warm room, choking and palpitation of the heart. Tendency to chronic sore throat or recurrent sore throat and ulceration with every recurring sore throat. Liquids, of course, you will see, are analogous to empty swallowing, and empty swallowing causes more pain than the bolus which presses upon the sore throat, because it is of the nature of a slight touch. The slight touch increases the soreness and pain in the throat.

Slight pressure of the collar increases the pain in the throat. With the sore throat the muscles and glands about the neck become painful, inflamed and swollen, and very tender to the touch. With the sore threat, very commonly, there is pain in the base of the brain or in the back of the head, and soreness of the muscles of the back of the neck, which is often relieved by lying on the back and aggravated by lying on either side. If you look into the throat it has a mottled, purplish appearance. Put all these things together, with the copious flow of tenacious saliva, and you will be able to manage cases of diphtheria that commence on the left side and spread to the right, whether the membrane is scanty or copious. Tonsilitis with suppuration of the tonsils, when the left tonsil becomes inflamed and after a day or two the right one becomes inflamed and swollen, and they both finally go on to suppuration, or when one swells and suppurates and the other swells and supporates. Diphtheritic appearances of the throat, spreading from left to right. The pharynx is full of thick, white, ropy mucus in the morning; must hawk out a mouthful of mucus in the morning.

The abdomen is distended with flatus. The abdomen is tympanitic in typhoid condition, much rumbling in the distended abdomen. The clothing cannot be tolerated, not even the slightest touch of the clothing, and yet it may require hard pressure to bring out soreness that is deep in the abdomen. This state is as it is in inflammation of bowels, ovaries and uterus, the patient lies on the back with the clothing lifted from the abdomen. Violent, labor-like pains, menstrual colic, present in typhoid, in puerperal fever, in malignant scarlet fever, in the more malignant affections or zymotic forms of the continued fever.

Lach. has a series of liver troubles with jaundice; congestion of the liver, inflammation of the liver, enlarged liver and the nutmeg liver. Cutting like a knife in the region of the liver. Vomiting of bile; vomiting of everything taken into the stomach. Extreme nausea; continuous nausea with jaundice. White stool. It has cured cases with gall stone. "Cannot endure any pressure about the hypochondria." In the chronic state the sensitiveness of the skin is so great over the abdomen, and about the waist and hips, that the wearing of the clothing creates pain, great restlessness and uneasiness, the patient grows increasingly nervous and finally goes into hysterics. Sensitiveness over the lower abdomen; can scarcely allow her clothes to touch her.

It seems strange at first reading that Lachesis can be such a common remedy at the menstrual period. It is also laid down as a remedy for the climacteric period. Now if you will study the cases of many women at the climacteric period you will find that many of them have the flushes of heat and the surgings in the head and the great circulatory disturbances that are found under Lachesis. This is also true of the complaints, the headaches, etc., that come in women at the climacteric period and at the menstrual period. The Lachesis symptoms are strong in women during menstruation. There is violent headache, boring pain in the vertex, nausea and vomiting during menses.

The discharge in the female, either as a menstrual flow or as a haemorrhage, is black blood. Pain in the left ovarian region, or going from left to right. Induration of one or both ovaries. It has cured suppuration of the ovaries. The uterine region is very sensitive to touch, to the slightest contact of the clothing; in inflammation of the ovaries, pains in the ovaries and uterus going from left to right. Pains in the pelvis going upwards to the chest, sometimes a surging of pain going upwards, grasping the throat. Labor pains surge up, with clutching at the throat, or the labor pains cease suddenly, with clutching at the throat.

The menstrual pains increase violently until relieved by the flow. The menstrual sufferings are before and after the flow, with amelioration during the flow. The menstrual flow intermits one day and then goes on for one day, and during the intermission there is likely to be pain or headache. Menorrhagia with chills at night and flushes of heat in the daytime.

During the menstrual period violent headache, especially at such times as the flow slackens up. It is a general feature of Lachesis to be relieved by discharges. Catamenia flow but one hour every day; on stopping, violent pains follow in region of left ovary, alternating with gagging and vomiturition.

It is especially useful at the menopause, because of the flushes of heat. Uterine haemorrhage, fainting spells, suffocation in a warm room; orgasm of blood most violent. Complaints during pregnancy. Inflammation of the veins of the leg. Varicose veins, blue or purple, extreme sensitiveness along the veins; sensitive to the slightest touch, though relieved by pressure."

Source

https://www.materiamedica.info/en/materia-medica/james-tyler-kent/lachesis
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2293852059418264269.post-24317458017049489222021-04-02T03:36:00.000-07:002021-04-02T03:36:18.880-07:00Goddess Church Reverend Crystal Cox Doctrine
<span data-offset-key="16d1v-0-0" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Reverend Crystal Cox, Goddess Church Doctrine , Doctrine of Suicide <span class="py34i1dx" style="background-color: white; color: var(--blue-link); font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTxlbhdVOAI&t=196s
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2293852059418264269.post-66344812440474457272021-01-02T16:12:00.001-08:002021-01-02T16:12:32.286-08:00Kryon: The Lightworkers Handbook, Lesson 1-5 COMPLETEUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2293852059418264269.post-37858322309031179992020-02-10T07:58:00.001-08:002020-02-10T07:58:35.987-08:00Mage, the Awakening Grimoire, 8 Grimoires
Take the word Gael, which mean friend. Ga or ha is hello in Vannes. Gaël literally means “in hello”, the one who said hello, ie the friend. The myth of Pandora, the Greek equivalent of Eve, clearly shows -as the biblical Genesis does- that woman appeared after man. Sexual reproduction came later. Believing without believing! It turns out that these data have been altered for political reasons, when men finally managed to get rid of the yoke of women, and overthrow the original matriarchy. For in truth, this is not the man who came first, it is the woman. But this is another story …

"

"Meaning of Elohim

Gods & Goddesses, Meaning of Words

In the Hebrew language and the Old Testament, the meaning of “El” is the noun singular form of the word God, and “

Elohim Meaning:

Elohim” is the plural version “gods.”

The name Elohim appears 33 times in the story of creation in the opening chapters of Genesis. According to Genesis 5:1b; Elohim made man in His likeness.

In 1:26; Elohim speaks of making man in our image and likeness, whereas in 1:27; Elohim creates man in His image. In the book of Jonah, the name Yahweh (Lord) is mentioned 22 times, Elohim or El (God) 13 times, and the combination Lord God four times, for a total of 39 references.

“Thou shalt have no other Elohim but Me” [Exod. xx. 3]. “Yahweh, He is the Elohim, Yahweh, He is Yahweh the Elohim” [1 Kings xviii. 39]. “They are no Elohim, but the work of men’s hands” [2 Kings xix. 18]. Isaiah 44:6; “Thus saith YHWH the King of Israel, and his redeemer YHWH of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no El.”

The names Elohim, Yahweh, and YHWH are not an actual God-man, but a God planet that is the largest planet in our solar system and that we call today, Jupiter. Elohim was the name for Jupiter from the Babylonians and Canaanites. Yahweh was the new name given by Moses under the tribe of the Israelites. The Hebrew language is derived from the Phoenicians and their book is called the Old Testament. It is a creation of the High Priest Phoenician Bards who are known as the Levites such as Moses, who had declared in his address to the Israelites in Deuteronomy, ch. iv. C. “Hear, O Israel, Jehovah, our Elohim is one Jehovah.”

This passage from Moses let’s us know, who we also know as Yahweh and Adonai and who is also Elohim, are all one in the same. It was from this point forward that there would be only one Jehovah, and the god named Elohim would no longer exist.

Jehovah is a Latinization of the Hebrew יְהֹוָה, a vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה (YHWH); the name of the Hebrew national god of the Iron Age kingdoms of Israel and Judah in the Hebrew Bible.
YHWH is also been transcribed as “Yehowah” or “Yahweh“, but the Rabbinic Judaism teaches that the Tetragrammaton (י-ה-ו-ה), YHWH, is the ineffable and actual name of God, and as such is not read aloud in the Shema, but is traditionally replaced with אדני, Adonai (“Lord”).

The royal court and temple of Israel had promoted Yahweh as God of the entire cosmos, possessing all the positive qualities previously attributed to the other gods and goddesses.

In modern Judaism, the name Yahweh is replaced with the word Adonai, meaning Lord. Most scholars believe “Jehovah” to be a late (ca. 1100 CE) hybrid form, derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai. Adonai — often translated as “LORD”, it is read in place of YHWH.
The idea of a single male deity is unique to our modern era."In our modern culture we tend to view God in masculine terms and imagery. While the word Elohim is a masculine noun, it does not have to imply that the Elohim is masculine. To illustrate this, notice that the word Elohim is used for a female goddess in the following verse.

The word translated as “spirit” in this verse is ’Elohim""Who or what appeared at En Dor when King Saul asked a medium to call for Samuel? In the first article I posted on this subject, I discussed the two primary views held by Christians: the spirit was either a satanic impostor or God actually sent Samuel’s spirit to pronounce judgment on the disobedient king.

Many Christians favor the idea that an evil spirit simply impersonated Samuel, but the text seems to say otherwise. The narrative calls the entity “Samuel” five different times and gives no indication that we should look for another meaning.

Also, the words that the spirit spoke were completely true—Saul and his sons did die that day. This post will explore other passages that help us properly interpret 1 Samuel 28, and we’ll also clear up some confusion about one of the most important words in the Bible.

Do Other Passages Provide Clues to the Proper Interpretation?

King Saul had previously disobeyed a command from the Lord to completely destroy the Amalekites and their cattle. After Samuel pronounced judgment on the king for his unfaithfulness we are told that they went their separate ways—Samuel to Rama and Saul to Gibeah. Then the author tells us that “Samuel went no more to see Saul until the day of his death” (1 Samuel 15:35).

In both English and Hebrew, it is ambiguous if the “his death” refers to Samuel’s death or Saul’s death. The NET Bible translates the passage as referring to Samuel’s death: “Until the day he died Samuel did not see Saul again” (1 Samuel 15:35), but there are problems with this rendering. The NASB and ESV remain ambiguous about whose death is referenced, but they did not translate the preposition “to.” For example, the NASB states that “Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death” (1 Samuel 15:35). As we’ll see, this minor textual decision strongly impacts one’s interpretation.

There are at least two reasons why “his death” in 1 Samuel 15:35 should be viewed as a reference to King Saul’s death. First, if the NASB’s rendering is accurate (that Samuel did not see Saul again until the day one of them died), then it creates a contradiction in the text.

In 1 Samuel 19:18, David fled from Saul to Samuel in Ramah. After sending messengers to capture David, Saul himself came to Ramah. The Spirit of God came upon Saul and he “prophesied before Samuel” (v. 24). So Samuel did see Saul again, but the prophet did not go to see Saul again until the incident at En Dor—Saul came to him. The translation of the preposition “to” makes a huge difference in 1 Samuel 15:35.

One concern about this interpretation has to do with how it could be said that Samuel’s spirit went to Saul, particularly when it was the medium who summoned him. I believe there is a reasonable solution. Samuel’s spirit still had to travel some “distance” from wherever he was (Sheol or heaven?) to where Saul was. Samuel asked, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” and the medium said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe.” Both of these statements imply that the spirit was traveling from somewhere else to arrive there. Daniel 10 may also shed some light on the subject. The angel that spoke to Daniel had to travel to get to the prophet, but he was held up by the prince of Persia for 21 days (Daniel 10:13). Again, this implies some degree of movement to go from the spiritual realm to the physical world. In the brief record of Samuel’s death, there is no indication at all that Saul was present.

After being told that Saul went home (Gibeah) sometime earlier, the text states, “Then Samuel died; and the Israelites gathered together and lamented for him, and buried him at his home in Ramah” (1 Samuel 25:1). It seems highly unlikely that, in his final day, the dying prophet would make a trip to Gibeah to see Saul. Even if Saul should be included in “the Israelites” who gathered and lamented for Samuel, this did not happen until after Samuel had died.

Based on these passages in 1 Samuel 19 and 25, we can be fairly confident that “his death” in 1 Samuel 15:35 refers to the king’s death. That being the case, it lends good support to the interpretation that it really was the spirit of Samuel that appeared at En Dor.

The prophet then announced that the king would be with him (i.e. the king would die) later that day. So we see that other passages help us understand that 1 Samuel 15:35 tells us Samuel did not go to see Saul until the day that Saul died.

An Elohim?

Perhaps the greatest cause of confusion in this passage has to do with the word that is used by the medium when she describes what she saw.

And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. Hebrews 2:7 quotes this verse and uses the Greek word for angels, which is how the Septuagint translated it too.

’Elohim is also used to refer to demons.

They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods (’elohim) they did not know, to new gods, new arrivals that your fathers did not fear. It italicizes words that are not in the Hebrew but are added when necessary for a sentence to make sense. The problem here is that the first time gods is italicized, the Hebrew word is there. And that word is ’elohim.

In six verses, ’elohim is used as part of the term “sons of God” (bene ha ’elohim). These “sons of God” are a class of heavenly beings who rejoiced at creation (Job 38:7), met with God regularly (Job 1:6; 2:1), rebelled and married women (Genesis 6:2, 4), and were apparently charged with overseeing the Gentile nations (Deuteronomy 32:8, ESV).

In the majority of cases where ’elohim does not refer to the one true God, it is used in reference to the false gods worshiped by the nations. For example, Deuteronomy 6:14 states, “You shall not go after other gods (’elohim)…” This type of command is found many times in Deuteronomy. ’Elohim is also used this way in the first of the Ten Commandments: “You shall have no other gods [’elohim] before Me” (Exodus 20:3).

So what did the spirit of Samuel have in common with these other uses of the word? Put another way, how could God, the spirit of Samuel, false gods, angels, and the sons of God all be called ’elohim? I can think of only one shared attribute: they are all residents of the spiritual realm, or more accurately, the spiritual realm is their primary place of operation.

Yes, an ’elohim truly did appear to the medium and Saul, but it was not a god. Extraterrestrials brought the word of Elohim, of God as they say. The Elohim CHOSE the Earth as a place to conduct DNA experiments and they built laboratories for this purpose in what is now known as the Holy Land. They first created plants, then animals and finally humans "in their own image". The humans were first housed in these laboratories, referred to in the Bible as the Garden of Eden, but they proved to be too aggressive and were forced out. "
You are a Lightworker, a Seer, a Healer, a Psychic, a Channel, a multi-dimensional Magician. Now is time to bring forth your full True You for you and for All. No more Pleiadian Channeling, no more Kryon channeling, no more Channels as a way to know what to do, what’s next, what’s coming. It already Happened. Sit back, feel ALL OF YOU come into YOU and Relax into you.

You are all from different “places” in the Multi-Verse. You all have Unique Gifts from your “home planet let’s call it. It is time to plug into your own Channelled information, your own Highest Excitement, your Own Truth. The other Channels don’t know what is best for YOU, nor YOUR unique powers, skills, knowledge. The information is nice, it feels good, it is accurate if it feels so to you, however, there is MORE. Time for you to bring in your own INFORMATION. All of YOU.

There is Nothing to Fear, the Oppressors are GONE and the Clean Up is well under way. Not yet Complete however, our “Job”, our “Mission” is DONE in that aspect and now it is time to bump up our Game per say, to learn more, know more and to actually use our “Powers” per say.

Yes I enjoy the information from the Pleiadians, from Kryon and I Love them. I enjoyed and enjoy so many Channels, however, NOW is time for you to be a Conscious Channel. To Walk in the Channeled Information all the time. To walk in the energy of HOME. Meaning to listen so intently within that you know without a doubt what information you want to bring through. And to FULLY trust your own joy, excitement, and what you want to do as being that of your highest and best and your MISSION.

No more “strung out” on the “the Event”, no worries of Armageddon, no waiting for the next “message” on YouTube from ANYONE or Anywhere. Sit with YOU. KNOW you. Bring in your own information from your Home Star System, your true roots and your FULL Multi-Dimensional Self. New Earth is HERE and it is a Frequency.

We have moved in the Galaxy, Timeline have Collapsed, you are your best self and your frequency is raising daily. Trust You ABOVE ALL Else.

Now a time for Complete Faith, for knowing that there is NO DEATH there is only waking up CONSCIOUS in a different Reality, a different Version of You. Fearing Death of yourself or loved ones LITERALLY steals your Life Force. THERE IS NO DEATH. Don’t use the thought of Death or the fear of “losing” loved ones as a reason to keep your “powers” in check, a reason to torture yourself with western medicine lies, a reason to control others and call it worry. Death is a Graduation to another Level, period, it is nothing to FEAR.

All we studied for decades, Kryon changing the magnetic poles. The Pleiadians bringing information to awaken us, to teach and test us. The Harmonic Convergence back in the day. Timeline Collapsing and yes we are in a very different Reality, Dimension (ie: Mandela Effect, Quantum Shift). It has ALL Happened, and the clean up is underway by those who came here to do such (the Galactic Federation of Light).

It is all happening. The Light has WON. We are now witnessing the Clean up of Energy and it is Beautiful, Glorious. The Galactic Federation of Light is cleaning it all up. Time for US, those of Us on the front lines of Light Work lets’ call it, we are moving on to more, creating more, bringing in more energy and learning, using New Tools of New Earth to do MORE THINGS.

A time to stop sitting in Spiritual Status Quo, and to STOP waiting for the information to come out somewhere or through someone. Now is time for you ALL to heal each other Energy Healing available to ALL. Raise your Own Personal Frequency. Raise your Own personal Vibration.

We are no longer Awakening People per say, we are supporting the Awakened and we ourselves are learning NEW and more, we are upping our Game another words.

You are Your God. You are your Healer. You are your Preacher. You are your Doctor. You are your best Channel. You are your most powerful Ally. You know Best for YOU. Trust you.
No need to Control anyone else. Stop trying to Control what others want, see, are and FOCUS on what you are bringing in. Your Home Planet per say is speaking to you. Your Highest Self, the highest aspect of you is speaking to you, LISTEN. Your Joy, Your Excitement is your Clearest Guide.

YOU are the TEMPLE. You are the NEW RELIGION. You are the Only GOD you “Need”.
Through it flowed the Light and Love that can allow you to transcend what has been, and to create what will be. It is through the gateway represented by the brilliant blue-white star Sirius – that all the energy enters your universe – the energy that is your very Soul and Spirit, the energy of your Higher Self…. “This is a time of new birth and of new life. It is the time of the grandest transmutation, the grandest transformation and yes, of the grandest transcendence that has ever occurred. The Goddess is returning and She brings with Her a Light, a Light that once lit, cannot be extinguished.”"In this transmission, you will once again connect to the energies of the archangels and to the grids of the earth and central sun. Within this higher light we journey to the Temple of the Higher Heart where we connect with the radiance pouring through the vortex of Sirius. As the channel Lazarus tells us, Sirius is the portal of the Goddess as She returns to birth a new age of enlightenment on the Earth.
Sirius is a blue star that is twenty times brighter than the Sun. Sirius is a powerful portal for new energies pouring into our Universe.

The heliacal rising of Sirius takes place on July 26th. It is concurrent with the annual opening of the Sirius stargate known as the Lion’s gate – called the Lion’s Gate because the Sun moves into Leo at this time.

The constellation of the Lion, guards the entrance to the Sirius Stargate. The energy of the Lion’s Stargate continues through until August 12th. The potent energies of change are most potent at this time particularly on the 8th of the 8th month. These energies are also available for us to use, at a less potent rate during the rest of the year.

It is interesting, the News Casters being removed for Sexual Assault that then become the News. It’s seems cannibalistic in a way. And you know that many of the newscasters themselves reporting on these guys have done the same or worse. It must be an odd sensation knowing what you have done while reporting on someone doing it.

The top tier DARK are falling and the next levels are in queue. The LIGHT is everywhere and there will soon be no DARK left. The Feminine Divine is Rising FRONT AND CENTER.

The old Paradigm of Sexual Authority used to Control Women and absorb their precious Sacred Divine is a Timeline that is rapidly coming to an end, as many timelines merge and collapse.

This has been horrifically happening for hundreds of years in time as we have known time to be. At one point and still in a big part today adult rape, the sexual energy theft was by pure aggressive and the sole, purely physical fact that men were stronger than women physically.

More modern days found women fighting back and many stronger physically and/or had modern day weapons of defense. Then instead of brute force in mass against women sexually it became power, authority be it a boss, cop, father, stepfather, mother, or anyone who has some kind of authority over you.

They use the leverage or let’s say ENTITLEMENT of “owning you” as our parents did, no other way to say it really as back then per say, they could do whatever they want to their children and even if the children told who would they tell and who would believe them?

A purely sexual biological act, and it comes with the TITLE to your body, your soul, your guilt and shame, your programs for their making, your human vehicle and your very life. What you eat, learned behavior, your view of the world, your opinion of yourself, your belief of a woman’s role, all becomes their version of you which was someone else’s version of them.

Yes many break out of that titlement, that born with ownership and habit of being controlled, but most have not. They live as adults still owned by the views, needs, lifestyle, beliefs, expectations, guilt trips, memories, ethics, morals and subjective perspectives of their parents. Who in a sense, were slave masters as you were, simply born unto them and then you were their pet in a way, in the cage of their subjective perspective and holding their lineage of belief, programming, habits and patterns firmly in place.

You are fed and your physical needs brought to you. You watch how love and life is to be through your “family”. You are not really encouraged to act, feel, believe a different way but instead expected to “play along” with the heteropatriarchal norm. The sexual entitlement and masterhood of home, intelligence and body of men over women is learned, taught, suggested, seen, and expected. It is also worshipped and ordained.

Most do not escape this parental ownership of arrogance and entitlement of their life by those who simply had sex and their “human vehicle” only, was created from this one biological act.

I believe we create our lessons and experiences here in some sort of plan before we are born. That said and holding true that I am the creator of my experience on some level, well we are born unto them out of a sexual excursion of some sort, could be love, could be rape, could be molestation.

They could have been in love, they were most likely to have been in lust. And well it was probably more like our Mothers being infatuated with some young guy, needing attention and love for that one moment in time, and choosing to have sex with some guy who really did not know her, respect her, like talking to her or was even actually her true friend but instead someone who simple wanted to have sex, to have that one brief moment in time be it an hour or a year or more.

Still odds are your birth father did not really know your Mother, know her interests, her truths, her hopes and dreams, or even her real beliefs. Odds are he did not ever really listen or respect her views on the world or ideas or even that she knew best in any area at all.

Odds are, especially if you are over 40, your Mother looked to your father for answers on things and was not respected as someone with intelligence and worth in totality. Or to even be taken serious. All of these programs, patterns of abuse and control and the heteropatriarchy in general was given to you in your DNA at birth, and learning of choice of thoughts creating reality, choosing what reality we want to believe or live in, choosing our morals, choosing who touches us and how, consciously choosing how we live our life, and walking our own version of ourself and not our parents or society, well that is lessons most are not aware exist.

Now all this sexual assault to sooth the lost boy male ego craving love and power insatiably is a program, most men could not help it and may have not have even noticed a choice point, they were simply born into the HeteroPatriarchy and they went along with the role of their father and the archetype of the man’s role in “those times” and timelines.

Universal law is changing all this now as men are seeing men fall from Grace and examining their own actions, of which most were not even aware it was abusive, controlling and of the dark. They were simply living the program given unto them as their own birthright per say.

We are born into this, and then we are owned. We are not adults when we are programmed and have no rights to our own choices in the society we were born into. Some magical made up age of 18 (Numerological Number 9), and we then get to have the rights to our body back, choose who were are around, have societal rights?

Possibly, possibly not as the programs run deep and we find jobs, bosses, friends, lovers who perpetuate the program as we believe that to be the way it is suppose to be. All of this having contributed to massive sexual assault as the patriarch is constantly trying to undo their own pain from being forced into that programming and it displays as assault, entitlement, and control over women in whatever way they can get it.

The agenda of regulating and controlling women’s bodies is the overarch per say of all of this. It is a way for the Heteropatriarchy to stay alive as it gasps for air with the rise of the feminine divine. If they can maintain “ownership” of woman by creating “laws” over women’s bodies then they keep this childhood programming in place until death, and then they can recreated it with birth again and the cycle continues.

This is ALL coming to a screeching halt as the sexual predators are outed and removed.

We were taken to dark rooms (rooms without a plethora of knowledge and a variant perspective) and we were programmed be it religion, a man’s role and entitlement, a woman’s place, a commandment, a way to raise our children, have our home or live our life and even programmed on who is the authority, who can license us, who can give us permission to be who we actually want to be and is true for ourselves.

They make laws about our body, our choices, our “world” and this is all crashing down as the LIGHT explodes the dark to the finest of grains and then it simply blows away to all parts of all universes to heal, to re-program, to feel and be love and to never again rule our consciousness, torment our soul, own our flesh and bone our human vehicle, keep us as debt slaves, rape and molest us, and use our emotions as their ravenous fuel to feed their own asphyxiation.

This “dark room” could be the family home, a bedroom, a shed, or it could be church, school, the park, the family dinner table, guilt or shame voiced “at us”, unwanted OPINIONS on who we are or who we should become based on the subjective perspective of the yapper.

It is more than sexual assault, it is constant opinions at you about you. It is a constant, “their version” of who you should be or their assumptions of who you are. These “dark rooms” per say are in point and place in society where you pretend to be some other version of you then you know yourself to be, in order to get or keep the approval of the heteropatriarchal society of which you were born into. You shine the light whereby you tell your Truth and you Out the Predators, the Dark Ones, the Entitled Controllers.

The “assault” makes itself known by way of watching you, of saying you are prettier if you smile, commenting on your looks as if their version of you is somehow more important than your own. Sexual Assault is the energy of all that controls you and keeps you in a program that prevent your authentic you actually creating and living in the reality you actually do consciously choose.

The brute force rape and entitlement to a woman’s body morphed into the power of money and being at the helm of some capitalistic economic model which is an illusion created out of their made up money loaned to you, debt, bank fees, taxes, licensing and so many more economic oppression programs to keep you controllable and keep you having to take the PURE sexual DISGUST and Venomous Leers, Oppressive Opinions, Exhaustive Banter, Antagonistic Arrogance played out as your need for the energy, the power, the survival force of money. Money that if you don’t lay down and take it per say, you will be the one asphyxiated.

Everywhere women go they are met with some man’s eyes that have a sense of “ENTITLEMENT” to their body, their smile, how they dress, what they are reading or listening to and well many men out there in public land seem to think they are the master and woman are the slave or the crop even perhaps. And often this actually comes natural to them as the habits of their ancestors. We are now at a Choice Point and the Male Divine is rising up to meet the Feminine Divine in a Grand Galactic Expression of Pure Love and Light.

– W. B. Yeats, Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry

“Mrs. Sheridan, as I call her, was wrinkled and half blind, and had gone barefoot through her lifetime… She had never been to school she told me, because her father could not pay the penny a week it would have cost. She had never travelled many miles from the parish of her birth, and I am sure had never seen pictures except the sacred ones on chapel walls…

She had never heard of the great mystic Jacob Behman, and yet when an unearthly visitor told her the country of youth is not far from the place where we live, she had come near to his root idea that ‘the world standeth in Heaven and Heaven in the World, and are in one another as day and night.'”
–Lady Gregory, Visions and Beliefs in the West of Ireland

In Ireland the Church has raised its monasteries atop the sacred groves and springs which, in their virgin state, long served as temples for the Irish. But by most accounts, the Irish minded little. Perhaps they thought one god is as good as another–Brigid might as well be the Blessed Mary, I suppose. Or perhaps their hopes for keeping their old faith—like so many hopes in the Isle’s history—hinged on a battle that was fatefully lost.

As St. Patrick walked about the countryside, it’s told, spreading the Gospels throughout the Emerald Isle, he met mostly the gentle hospitality of the Irish peasantry, with their willing ear for lore of all kinds, their love of things bright and grand in spirit, and their warm fires of peat and twigs.

But one Druid saw that his whole order and the fate of the Irish was threatened by this new mission from Rome, and so challenged the Saint to a battle of magic and power. They met in an open field where billowing clouds traversed across the sun.

The Druid began the battle by rising into the air high above the meadow, until all who watched had to squint into the sun to see him any longer. St. Patrick ended it by uttering a few words, with which the Druid faltered, and fell from the light of the sun. His body was broken on the stones below, and his blood joined in with the clover.

Although the Church had its way with abbeys and crosses, some traditions refused to die. From the very first the Christian priests abhorred any talk of the faery—the fair people—that invisible race of sometimes helpful, sometimes wicked folk who had blessed the Irish with miracles and cursed them with tragedy since before anyone’s greatest grandmother could recall.

“Many poets, and all mystic and occult writers, in all ages and countries, have declared that behind the visible are chains on chains of conscious beings, who are not of heaven but of the earth, who have no inherent form but change according to whim, or the mind that sees them. You cannot lift your hand without influencing and being influenced by hoards. The visible world is merely their skin. In dreams we go among them, and play with them, and combat with them,” wrote Yeats of the faeries.

Although the priests told all to not believe in such pagan nonsense, they themselves were the most afraid to go about at night time where a troop of faeries might be traveling from their cave to the sea, or from their hawthorn tree to the fields below, or simply dancing to their heavenly music from twilight to dawn in a circle of moss-covered stones.

And though the priests forbade it, their words alone could not hinder the fair people from sometimes bestowing on mortals certain gifts—the sight of things far away, the power to heal and root out evil, or a music so divine that maidens would dance off their toes for the joy of it, or die slowly pining away for it.

Though the gift of flowering music wasn’t bestowed on the red-haired lass named Biddy Early, no one doubted that she had been touched with the gifts of foresight and healing. She has since earned the title of Ireland’s most famous witch.

How her power came to her no one knows. Some say her first husband (she had at least three and outlived them all) came to her after he died and told her secrets which gave her the power. Others say she was a seer from birth. Terry Glavin of Lost Magazine wrote, “When Biddy was a girl she spent a great deal of time talking to herself, in places where the blackthorn grows, places like the rath in Jack Brian’s field beside the farm at Coolreagh. It’s one of those overgrown stone circles where people used to see faint lights dancing on certain nights of the year.”

Some say that it was her son, who was coveted by the faery for his skill at the game of hurley. Yeats once wrote, “The people of faery cannot even play at hurley unless they have on either side some mortal.” The boy was an astounding player, able to leap like a deer and dodge like a rabbit.

That’s why they say when he was eight the faery took him away (which is the way of saying to their land, a place of everlasting youth, leaving the living to mourn over the lifeless body left behind like so many rags forgotten).

It is said the boy returned to Biddy in her grief and granted her a little blue bottle with which to make her living. Biddy, they say, would shake this little bottle and see inside a vision that would answer any matter brought before her. She never charged any money for her services (as is the custom the world over with shamans and healers), but would sometimes take a little bread or tea, or more often whiskey (the abundance of which they say lead to the death of all her husbands).

According to a little girl whose mother inherited Biddy’s cabin, “She was as good, and better, to the poor as to the rich. Any poor person passing the road, she’d call in and give a cup of tea or a glass of whiskey to, and bread and what they wanted.”

Little is known of Biddy’s early years. She was born to a poor farming family in County Clare in 1798. “That was the year of the Croppies,” writes Glavin. “Seamus Heaney wrote a great poem about it. The peasants filled the pockets of their greatcoats with barley, to feed themselves on the run, and they made their final stand at Vinegar Hill, shaking scythes at cannon. They fell in the thousands, and they buried us without shroud or coffin, and in August the barley grew up out of the grave.”

Perhaps it’s fitting that with a tragedy such as the failed Irish Rebellion of 1798 comes a blessing to the people, and Biddy was certainly that. She had a little shed in which she would go and consult the faeries, working miraculous cures and telling the future of any who would come and seek her help. She made many cures with little bottles of potion and prayers and holy water.

Often she would warn someone she had given a cure to that they should mind the bottle when crossing such a bridge, or that it would break by such a gate, or that they should not come to any door but their own or they should lose it. And she was always right.

Daniel Curtin told Lady Gregory a story of both her healing and foresight, “There’s not a man in this countryside over forty year old that hasn’t been with her some time or other. There’s a man living in that house over there was sick one time, and he went to her, and she cured him, but says she, ‘You’ll have to lose something, and don’t fret after it.’ So he had a grey mare and she was going to foal, and one morning when he went out he saw that the foal was born, and was lying dead by the side of the wall. So he remembered what she said to him and he didn’t fret.”

As the Tarot deck includes cards of ill-fate, so Biddy’s tidings were not always happy, and the will of the faery is not always kind to the earthly folk. “There was a woman, Mrs. Leary,” Mrs. Sheridan told Lady Gregory, “had something wrong with her, and she went to Biddy Early. And nothing would do her but to bring my son along with her, and I was vexed… When Biddy Early saw him she said, ‘You’ll travel far, but wherever you go you’ll not escape them.’

The woman he went up with died about six months after, but he went to America, and he wasn’t long there when what was said came true, and he died. They followed him as far as he went.” The faeries, that is.

Now, the priests loathed Biddy and often brought fire and brimstone down on anyone seeking her help. A blacksmith told Lady Gregory, “The priests were against her and used to be taking the cloaks and the baskets from the country people to keep them back from going to her.” They even once attempted to put her on trial for witchcraft (she was the last in all of Ireland to be accused in court), but at the last minute all of the witnesses refused to testify.

Many stories are told of how she hexed a priest’s horse as her rode past her house (he had been whipping those on the road to see her) by having it run into the middle of the nearby river and refuse to go either backward or forward.

She got out of another stitch with the authorities when an eviction notice was served. The night of its execution, she was told by the faery (some say it was her dead husband) to tell the sheriffs, “Stay where you are,” when they came a-knocking. She did just that, and all four were stuck to their spot in the road as if their feet were encased in stone. After two hours she said, “Be away then!” and the enchantment was released. They never again brought ill will to the stout woman’s door.

Besides curing all manner of sick folk and cattle (a lost foul or a sour milking cow could mean destitution for a family), she would also trace the source of harmful magic and give the ailing a cure. Sometimes it was a thornbush planted in a faery road which was causing cattle to fall sick. Sometimes it was a curse of jealousy or ill-will wrought in the mind of someone who may not even know they had the power to do harm. This is a common theme in the Evil Eye lore. A certain Mrs. Crone, interviewed by Lady Gregory relates a tale about her healing by Biddy:

“I was myself digging potatoes out in that field beyond, and a woman passed by the road, but I heard her say nothing, but a pain came on my head and I fell down, and I had to go to my bed for three weeks. My mother went then to Biddy Early. Did you ever hear of her? And she looked in the blue bottle she had, and she said my name. And she saw me standing before her, and knew all about me and said, ‘Your daughter was digging potatoes with her husband in the field, and a woman passed by and she said, ‘It is as good herself is with a spade as the man,’’ for I was a young woman at the time. She gave my mother a bottle for me, and I took three drinks of it in the bed, and then I got up as well as I was before.”

A popular form of evil spell in Ireland was the use of a dead man’s hand (the infamous Hand of Glory, used the world over for all types of theft and deceit) to steal the butter right from the churn, or milk right from the cow. Biddy would find the culprit and stop the theft. (A popular way of doing this was for the inflicted family to put red hot coals beneath their churn, at which point the thieving conjurer would run up to the cottage in a terrible ruckus, screaming that they were being burned alive.)

This practice is further evidence of Biddy’s shamanic nature, as in most ancient cultures there are two types of magic workers—the good and the evil. The evil always work for their own benefit, seeking wealth and glory at the cost of others. Envy is their heart’s affliction, and that void is never filled.

The favorite trick of a greedy shaman is to bewitch unsuspecting folk with sickness to cause them to seek the enchanter’s help, at which point they would simply remove their own curse and collect the bounty. This is one reason that good shamans never accept money for their services, and are obliged to be generous with what they have and humble with what they don’t. Otherwise they might be accused of seeking wealth at the expense of others’ suffering.

It’s a shame that the Church failed to recognize this distinction, and early on put the black mark of witch on all those wise men and women who used the herbs of the mountains and valleys, as well as the prayers and visions through which the spirits guided them, to cure the ill and attempt to bring a heavenly grace into the earthly realm—a task which we all may hope is still not in vain. Lady Gregory recorded the words of a Mr. McCabe: “The priests were against her, but they were wrong. How could that be evil doing that was all charity and kindness and healing?”

Biddy’s old cottage is in ruins now, the stone walls broken and the thatched roof caved in. But when Terry Glavin visited its remains not so long ago, he found that not everyone had forgotten this miraculous woman. “Someone had draped a pretty red kerchief over a hole in a stone wall where a window had been. On the sill, in the nettles and the moss, there were offerings of the sort that people used to leave at saints’ wells. There was a pen, a little bottle, some coins, a package of stamps, and a ribbon.” Such tokens are important in humble folk traditions.

A few simple pins in a bottle were thought to keep evil spirits away. A coin thrown into a sacred spring brought good fortune, and even today a hopeful seeker might cast a penny into a wishing well. Biddy herself worked untold miracles with nothing but a little blue bottle (and their help, of course).

The emblems of this healthy and humble faery faith are not of golden rings and grand cathedrals, but of butter and bread, thimbles and tea. “Lay not up your treasures,” as they say. That’s something to keep in mind as both the pomp of the picking of the Pope (say that three times fast) and the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day cross our path this spring.
For decades, St John D. Seymour’s Irish Witchcraft and Demonology (1) was the only academic text on the subject available to researchers.

Since the early 1970s the handful of scholars who have delved into research in this field have been mainly concerned with ascertaining why there was so little witch-hunting in Ireland, though significant case studies of Irish witchcraft trials, such as that of Florence Newton in Cork (1661) and the Islandmagee witches in Antrim (1711) have appeared since the early 2000s, lending greater depth to the analysis.

From the late 1990s, Raymond Gillespie’s work in mapping the magical, moral world of early modern Irish people has deepened our understanding of how witchcraft, ghosts, divination, prophesies and astrology and other forms of supernatural intervention in earthly affairs constituted an essential part of both Catholic and Protestant popular religion in Ireland.

Similarly, it has only been in recent decades that the non-Christian supernatural as part of popular religion alongside official Catholic doctrine in late 18th and 19th-century Ireland has been explored, with current historiography remaining largely silent on Protestant witchcraft belief during that period. In the context of this emerging scholarship,

Ronald Hutton and Andrew Sneddon have led the way in exploring the nature of early modern Irish witchcraft belief and the ways in which this differed from beliefs in the British Isles and continental Europe. This is Sneddon’s third book on the subject. While the central focus is on the period between the passing of the 1586 Witchcraft Act and its repeal in 1821, witchcraft and magic during the late medieval era and the 19th and early 20th centuries are also covered.

By examining these phenomena over such a lengthy period, he has made a very significant contribution towards advancing scholarship which traverses the usual chronological and conceptual boundaries imposed on Ireland’s past by historians, charting change and continuity over the centuries. The author’s deep understanding of his subject, his keen awareness of the nature of witchcraft and magic throughout the British Isles, his mastery of historiography, his familiarity with relevant source material and record compensation, and his adeptness in developing a methodology suited to the Irish context have resulted in an original, systematic study which goes a long way in addressing a significant lacuna in Irish historiography.

Sneddon is to be commended on producing a work of such substance notwithstanding the serious limitations imposed by a dearth of source material. In his introduction, he explains to those not familiar with the sorry history of archival collections in Ireland that combined with the destruction of records during the 17th and early 18th centuries, almost all Irish administrative and criminal manuscripts relating to the main criminal courts of Quarter Sessions, Assizes and court of King’s Bench) down to the mid-18th century are now lost, together with probate material and Church of Ireland parish and institutional records. Consequently, as another Irish historian Neal Garnham has observed, Irish historians have no choice but to reply on ‘aggregations of examples drawn from the contemporary press, or the wealth of anecdotal evidence contained in the private papers of prominent individuals’ (quoted p. 1).

To his credit, Sneddon has mined an extensive range of new, under used and under analysed primary sources ranging from church record, private correspondence, depositions, newspapers, periodical, printed pamphlets and books to ballads and almanacs, and woven highly fragmented material into a coherent, original narrative that is solidly grounded in archival evidence. His extensive endnotes and select bibliography serve as excellent starting points for further reading and research in this field.

The book also makes an original contribution in a number of other important respects. Because Sneddon’s approach is informed by recent developments in the study of European witchcraft and popular magic, this study veers away from representing the Irish experience as particularly exceptional. As befits a volume in this series edited by Jonathan Barry,

Willem de Blécourt and Owen Davies which aims to illuminate lesser known or little studies aspects of the history of witchcraft and magic and to explore their relevance and influence from the medieval to the modern period, the interpretative framework for this study of witchcraft and magic in Ireland is the British Isles in particular, with Sneddon constantly comparing beliefs and practices in Ireland with those in England, Scotland and Wales. This is an especially strong feature of the study.

His analysis of belief in witchcraft and popular magic within the three main religious denominations (Catholic, Church of Ireland, and Presbyterian) is another innovative feature of this work. Sneddon also breaks new ground by examining, for the first time, both harmful magic and its beneficial counterpart together, highlighting how cunning-folk or commercial, magical practitioners were recognised as part of both Catholic and Protestant popular culture in early modern and modern Ireland, just as they were in the British Isles and elsewhere in Europe.

Sneddon states explicitly that this book is ‘by no means comprehensive but breaks the hard ground of the academic study of Irish witchcraft, lays a foundation upon which future studies can be built, and dispels the myth that witchcraft and popular magic were not an important part of Protestant and Catholic culture well into the modern era’ (pp. 3–4). The book is very well structured, comprising seven thematic chapters which follow a logical sequence.

Chapter one explores the nature of witchcraft belief beliefs across denominational and socio-cultural groups in early modern Ireland, offering a nuanced, contextualised overview of the very specific nature of Irish beliefs in magic and witchcraft. Presenting a different approach to interpretation of Irish witchcraft beliefs from those offered by Raymond Gillespie, Elewyn C. Lapoint and Ronald Hutton, and drawing heavily on scholarship on beliefs in contemporary England and Scotland, Sneddon argues that belief in potentially harmful magic, especially love magic, had a longer lineage in Ireland, ante-dating the 12th-century Anglo-Norman colonisation.

He also claims that the female butter-stealing witch was not, as existing historiography contends, a corrupt version of the malefic/demonic figure found in continental Europe but a distinct part of Gaelic Irish culture that dated from at least the early medieval era. Chapter two provides a brief overview of witchcraft legislation and legal administration in early modern Ireland, set within the comparative framework of the British Isles, with specific emphasis on the Irish witchcraft statute of 1586 which, as Sneddon points out, has hitherto tended to be cited rather than studied. He concludes that although almost identical to the 1563 English statute, the 1586 Irish Witchcraft Act was part of a grander programme for conquest and consolidation of Elizabethan power in Ireland. The following two chapters examine how civil and ecclesiastical authorities interpreted the 1586 Act and the degree to which they punished practitioners of magic, be they harmful witches or benign cunning-folk.

Chapter three concentrates on cunning-folk whom Sneddon identifies as ‘a recognised, cross-denominational cultural phenomenon in early modern Ireland’ (p. 36). He concludes that such men and women specialised in three activities (finding lost goods or treasure, diagnosis and curing of witchcraft, and, in Gaelic Irish and Catholic regions, protection again fair attacks on livestock and humans) and that notwithstanding the illegality of popular magic, there is no evidence of any concerted drive by the civil authorities to suppress it. Furthermore, he argues, opposition to cunning-folk was expressed in Ireland in the same way as it was by demonologists in Europe and England. Chapter four tackles the question of why prosecution and execution rates for witchcraft in Ireland were so low compared with England, Scotland and continental Europe.

Sneddon is especially thoughtful in his engagement with explanations advanced by historians, notably Raymond Gillespie and Elwyn Lapoint, and while he is at pains to emphasise the limitations imposed by the dearth of sources, he makes excellent use of archival examples, particularly the 1641 Rising Depositions (Trinity College Dublin) and Presbyterian session minutes to offer some fresh insights into this complex phenomenon. Sneddon contends that although by the mid-17th century accusations of malefic, demonic witchcraft were being made by and against Presbyterian and Church of Ireland settlers, during the disturbances of the 1640s prosecutions rates were low owing to ‘serendipity, informal arbitration, execution, and imprisonment without trial’ (p. 61). Furthermore, he asserts, the Catholic majority did not make formal accusations of malefic witchcraft while the Protestant only did so late in the 17th century.

Chapter five focuses on witchcraft trials and demonic possession in Ireland. It begins by setting the record straight on what ought to be regarded as witchcraft trials, revising downwards the numbers identified by earlier scholars to a total of four recorded trials and one execution. After an overview of demonic possession in Britain and Ireland, Sneddon presents detailed analyses of two well-documented trials, the first in Youghal (1661) and the second in Islandmagee, County Antrim (1711) and affords cursory attention to the prosecution of Irish women for witchcraft abroad – in Scotland during wide scale witch-hunts (1590s, 1670s) and in America during the 1680s.

The focus then shifts to witchcraft in modern Ireland, with an exploration of popular belief in witchcraft in Protestant and Catholic communities after the witch trials, from the early 18th century onwards. Using public discourse, parliamentary and court records, as well as folklore sources, Sneddon traced the decline in educated belief in magic and witchcraft, and examines the attitude of the judicial authorities to cases involving witchcraft before and after repeal of the Irish Witchcraft Act in 1821.

This is done within the context of a wide ranging sketch of the decline, decriminalisation and legislative repeal in other countries in the British Isles and continental Europe. Sneddon argues that while the ‘Catholic clerical elite, in the eighteenth century at least, condemned many popular folk beliefs considered superstitious, traditional malefic, demonic witchcraft was still regarded as orthodox, along with various forms of the miraculous’ (p. 122).

He stresses how in contrast to Catholic Ireland, little research has been undertaken on magic or witchcraft in Irish Protestant communities during the 18th and 19th centuries.

In this context, his finding that witchcraft scepticism in public discourse was voiced by growing numbers of Irish Protestants post-1750 breaks new ground in deepening our understanding of denominational differences about witchcraft. Sneddon argues plausibly that this trend towards scepticism, combined with the legal authorities brushing aside allegations of witchcraft, marginalised belief in magic and witchcraft within educated culture to the point that the Irish Witchcraft Act ‘slipped quietly from the statute book in 1821’ (p. 123).

In the concluding chapter he contends that cunning-folk, who are widely recognised as having been part of popular culture in early modern society, continued to serve both Catholic and Protestant communities in Ireland as late as the 20th century. Having highlighted how other magical practitioners (namely fortune-tellers and magical healers) differed from cunning-folk, Sneddon combines case studies of individual practitioners, contemporary clerical reactions and newspaper reports to construct a picture of what cunning-folk did, who sought their assistance, and how they were deal with by the authorities once complaints were made against them.

Sneddon contends that from the mid-19th century, popular recourse to cunning-folk declined as legal action was taken against them by clients, usually for theft or obtaining money under false pretences, and at this trend was facilitated by changes in policing and legal administration. In addition, Sneddon highlights the contribution of both the Catholic and Presbyterian hierarchies who, on spiritual and religious grounds, warned their faithful against having any dealings with cunning-folk.

On reaching the end of this original, scholarly book, the reader will have gained an excellent, fresh insight into the nature of beliefs about magic and witchcraft in Ireland, and the various ways in which these both conformed to and differed from beliefs in the British Isles and continental Europe throughout this period. It is, therefore, extremely suitable as a textbook for university students and is likely to be the main scholarly work on this subject for several years to come."
My personal favorite is that of Seamus Rua’s housekeeper. Partially because I like Yeats’s collections, but also because Seamus is Irish for James. Before we get to the main dish, though, let’s take a short look at some other famous Irish witches. Perhaps just enough to whet your appetite for now.

First up is Dame Alice Kyteler, who owned the Kyteler Inn, in Kilkenny, where she would lure local businessmen with her charms, taking their gifts and money. She survived four husbands, although gossip has it that it was through her own machinations. Between those possible murders and her talk against the Church, she was ill looked upon. She was the first to be accused of witchcraft in Ireland, although she managed to escape and was never heard from again.

Next is Biddy Early, who was born in 1778, County Claire. She had been taught herbal cures from her mother, until she became an orphan at 16. Being an outcast, she started talking to the fairies and learned how to use them against others. She, like Dame Alice, was married four times, one of whom was her stepson from a previous marriage. As time traveled on, she started to make a name for herself as a healer, with legend saying her powers came from a mysterious blue bottle. This bottle was brought to her by a dead relative from the Irish Otherworld. She denounced the Catholic Church and was accused of witchcraft in 1865. She was acquitted, and later repented on her deathbed. Her blue bottle was never found after her death, with the locals whispering that the fairies came back to collect it.

The last witchy appetizer is Florence Newton of Youghal. She supposedly cursed the maid of a local prominent figure. Being a beggar, Florence asked the maid for scraps, and when the maid refused, Florence grabbed her and gave her a cursed kiss. The maid started to have seizures and, when Florence was brought into the maid's presence, started vomiting needles and pins. Florence was arrested, where she was then accused of causing the death of her jailer. It would not be a far-fetched assumption to think that she was found guilty and hanged, but all the records were lost, and so we do not know. Perhaps she used her magical powers to escape?

Also from Youghal, there is the annual Halloween festival that goes with the legend of An Bhean Uisce, The Water Woman, of whom you can read about here, from the excellent folklorist Pollyanna Jones: http://hubpages.com/holidays/The-Youghal-Halloween-Festival-The-Legend-of-An-Bhean-Uisce.

Seamus Rua (Red James) woke up one night from a very deep sleep, as voices wafted up from the floor below. He crept down the stairs and saw half a dozen old women sitting around the fire in his kitchen, joking and laughing, one of whom was his housekeeper. He thought briefly back of the bedtime drink she had brought to him, which he had left untouched on his bed stand, for which he was happy to have skipped for the first ever time.

They were passing around a jug of his whiskey one noticed it was empty. She stood up and cried out “It is time to go, my sisters!” She placed a red cap upon her head, grabbed a bundle of yarrow, and changed “By yarrow and rue, and my red cap, too, away and hie over to England!”

Before the last word was out of her mouth, she flew and disappeared up the chimney. The other women copied this action and, as they all started away, Seamus leapt out and grabbed his housekeeper. He took the yarrow and red cap away from her. “If you don’t mind, I will take this for myself. By yarrow and rue, and my red cap, too, away and hie over to England!”

The moment the words were out of his mouth, he shot up through the fireplace. He flew over the Wicklow hills, across the Irish Sea, skimmed the Welsh mountains, and sped headlong over the ramparts of a large castle. He went through an open door, down many flights of stairs, and was bracing himself for impact as he neared a stout door, not even breathing a sigh of relief as he flew through the key hole, unharmed, finding himself in the kitchen cellar.

Groggy and confused from the ride, he found himself astride a stillion (a cradle for beer vats). Lights were flashing around him, and he didn’t even notice his hand held a tumbler of wine before he started drinking it, joining the old women who had flew in before him. They were laughing as loud and lustily as they had in his own kitchen.

He attempted to keep up with their drinking, but was soon left under the table. He woke to rough hands pulling him up, dragging him up the stairs, and then slamming him down in front of the Lord of the castle. The sheriff was called and Seamus was taken to jail. Found guilty in no time at all, he was roundly ridiculed for the story he told of how he had turned up in the cellar.

A gallows was prepared and soon he was in a cart, the horse taking him to his final destination. He had a sign on his back that told everyone he had been draining the casks of the Lord's estate every night for the past month, to the jeers of the throng who had come to watch him twist in the wind. Evidently his housekeeper and her fellow witches had been doing nightly visitations for some time, quaffing quite heartily!

Along the way he spied in elderly woman who yelled to him “Seamus Rua, are you going to die in such a strange place without your caipin dearg?”

Recognizing his birth language, Irish, term for red cap, Seamus smiled and nodded a thank you. He turned to the lord and humbly asked. “My Lord, I would very much like to die with my red cap on, which should still be in your cellar.” The aristocrat relented and sent a servant to get the article of clothing. In a matter of minutes it was handed back to James, whereupon he put on his head and looked out at the crowd as he was marched up onto the gallows.

“My good people please take my plight as a warning... By yarrow and rue, and my red cap, too, away and hie my way back home!”

No sooner were the words out of his mouth when he astonished the crowds by suddenly flying into the air, heading west back over the English countryside to his home in Ireland.

So now, my gentle reader, I wish you all spooky Samhain dreams and haunted Halloween treats. I hope this story, retold with my own inflections, adds to your scary merriment, this October season!"

We at times have claimed to be self conscious, say of how we might look, a particular hairstyle or some other bodily image concern. We seem to use it as a negative or something to work on Not Being. We call ourselves, “Self Conscious” however, the thing is to be “Self Conscious” is the Ultimate Goal I would Say.
To Know Thyself, to be Self Aware, to be Conscious of Self, of who we TRULY are is a VERY positive thing. Some may even say it is the most important passage, knowledge, lesson or mission we came to Earth to achieve.

If I am “Self Conscious” then I know myself, I am listening to my intuition through the talking of my body. If I am “Self Conscious” I know my Truth and honor myself. Many believe that being “Self Conscious” is why God created Humans. Simply to become aware of SELF, to be Conscious of SELF, to be “Self Conscious” . It is the WHOLE Purpose of Humanity. ~ Reverend Crystal Cox
